Finally the cries of the Bordumsa-Pengaree commuters and agitations of the local aggrieved organizations have been rendered due attention by the Sarbananada Sonowal-led BJP government in Assam following the sanctioning of fund of Rs 8, 65, 95,000 for the maintenance of the 36-km long dilapidated PWD Road connecting Digboi and Bordumsa via Pengaree in Tinsukia district falling within the two separate jurisdiction of Digboi and Margherita Legislative Assembly constituency of Upper Assam.
According to the BJP sources at Digboi, local MLAs Suren Phukan and Bhaskar Sharma of Digboi and Margherita respectively, had perused relentlessly in this regard and finally the foundation stone-laying ceremony will be held at Digboi Charali Police Point on Friday morning by both the MLAs jointly.
“Overall development, peace and tranquility in all segments without prejudice within the jurisdiction will be my top priority, irrespective of whatsoever impediments come in my way,” remarked Suren Phukan, the Digboi MLA, during a brief interaction with The Sentinel on Thursday. “After constant perusal and effective follow-up, we have succeeded in bringing about the desired fund for the maintenance of the Digboi -Bordumsa PWD Road,” he added.
In October, 2016, the Assam Government had sanctioned Rs 252 crore for carrying out maintenance work of all PWD roads across the State during the meeting of the Assam State Road
Board held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, approving Rs 2 crore each for 126 assembly constituencies for maintenance of roads.
